Elected

As you may have seen somewhere, there is a Presidential Election this year as GW's term is just about up. Two very distinguished candidates are now, as we speak, vying for your support. One is a Vietnam War vet, the other a young upstart from the Midwest. Which do I support you may ask? Neither. I want someone with true experience. Someone who has dealt with crisis before . That person would be Duane Engalls Glasscock. A candidate from the past, who has the ability to lead us into the future. For more information, listen here and you'll agree. We need him more now, than ever.

Wormtown Weekend

It's going to be a wet , wild one this week folks. Rain rain rain, and perhaps a tropical storm. That's the weather , now it's time for sports. Red Sox made it to the playoffs,Patriots lost their first game in years. Now the Rock. Over at Ralphs on Friday it's The Murder Junkies, GG Allins' old band. They have been to Wormtown a few times before and are always worth the price of admission if you want to see some some sick shit.
Then Saturday over at Vincents, it's Psycobilly Cadillac, Jason James rockabilly outfit. They are guaranteed to shake up the room all night long.
Then, another Sunday show at Ralphs',Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction all the way from The UK. How many times can you see great bands from the UK in Wormtown? Go tonight for a once in a lifetime experience. And if that's not enough for you, Monday night at Ralphs it's Joe Buck Yourself, the wild, wild bass man from Hank III. I saw him there a few years back and was totally blown away. You'll probably have to call in sick to work after this weekend, but it will be all worth it.

Wormtown Weekend

There was going to be a great punk show at the Vernon Hotel Saturday, but it was canceled. Rescheduled to November. So instead why not spend the whole day on Pleasant Street at Tammany Hall. Not exactly punk, but sounds like it'll be a blast. I use to live at Tammany for 17 years when I worked right next door at the print shop. Many owners have come and gone since then, and the new guys are really trying to make it special, so go and support them. Or on Saturday you can go to Boston for the annual Hempfest on the common. That always make the evening news, and this year on the Massachusetts Ballot is a question where you can vote to decriminalise the evil weed , so don't forget to vote in November so you kids don't get a criminal record like mine did.
Then on Sunday it's the annual fArt on the Street Festival on Park Ave between Pleasant St. and Highland Strret. Lots of music , food and of coarse , Art.

Rick Blaze and the Ballbusters

A short clip from Friday at The Lucky Dog as they celebrate 15 years of rockin' in Wormtown, with Jeff Crane ,Dave Cuneo, and Jimmy Buscarino. Rick has played all over the world and we're lucky he calls Worcester home.

Wormtown Weekend, Early Edition

Punk Rock at Ralphs this week on Thursday. The Core Four , minus one along with Musclecah and The Pathetics. That's right, Thirsty Thursday leads you to Fucked Up Friday. So instead of fighting your hangover , go to The Lucky Dog for the 15th anniversary show of Rick Blaze and the Ballbusters.Rick has been the worldwide ambassador of Wormtown Rock for years, so go help him and the band celebrate. Also on Friday, Guns Of Navarone open for Black River Sound at Ralphs.
That ought to keep you all busy.

And on a side note, The Wormtown Music Festival is this weekend. Do NOT be confused. This has nothing to do with Real Wormtown Punk Rock. Those hippies stole it years ago, and I do not endorse it. And if I had a cheap lawyer, I'd sue their dirty hippy asses. They never even said thank you.

Wormtown Weekend

Punk Rock is back at The Hotel Vernon this week. Come see the next generation of Wormtown Rock, fresh from their Northeast tour along with The Murder from Boston and The Designer Drugs from NYC.

Or if pop punk is more your taste , head over to The Lucky Dog For Huck, Thinner and others.

Or none of the above? Go to The White Eagle Ballroom for UkeStock 2008, 20 different acts who specialize in Ukulele music.

Unfortunately cAnal Fest has been postponed to November 1st due to rain/wind/tropical storm Hanna. You can't celebrate water in the rain, I guess. And why push it so far forward is a mystery. Maybe Indian Summer will in effect then. Usually it's pretty chilly around here by November.

Back To The Future

I have begun going back through the archives here at The Wormstead , and will be posting fliers, articles, and other assorted stuff from the History of Wormtown. Today deals with the opening of Xit on Millbury St and the notorious show by Flipper. What a way to open a new punk club, with one of the most controversial bands of the day. The Commandos opened , followed by The Freeze from Cape Cod. Then Flipper , from San Fransisco took the stage after visiting WICN and The Midheaven Restaurant with a case of beer in tow. Needless to say , they were in top form.
