Capt. PJ and The Numbskulls

Last Saturday evening , WCUW held a benefit at The Ship Room in The Hotel Vernon.Part of the entertainment was Captain PJ reprising his role as mascot for The Baystate Bombardiers performing the stunt that made him famous on and off the court. He also could be seen performing this feat on Baystate Bowling TV show that aired locally in the 80's


Afterwards The Numbskulls performed a feat they have never done before. Playing their set with acoustic guitars. You really should have been there. And you really should support WCUW whenever they ask you to. Call them now at 508 753 2284, or drop by their studios at 910 Main St in Worcester and give them a pledge.

Back from the Beach

Vacation is over. Had a blast on 'ol Cape Cod. Visited the sacred Marconi Site. Sat on the beach for a really long time over several days. Dreamt of Piracy on the High Seas. Drank many a Gansetts. Made fires. Visited The Beachcomber and saw The Incredible Casuals, now in their 28th year of Sunday afternoon gigs at that local landmark. And, along the way thought where to take this blog now that the 30th Anniversary has passed. Decided to keep on with news and happenings here in Wormtown, around Greater Wormtown County, and of coarse on the Worm Wide Web. Maybe not as often, but who knows. And it will still all be here for anyone who's into part of the musical history of Worcester, Massachusetts.

Going to take a blog break, grab my board and head to the beach to ride some waves, shoot the curl, and hang ten. I'll be back in a while as long as I don't wipe out or get eating by a shark. Kowabunga, dudes!

The Last Issues EVAH!

Back in 2002 I resurrected the old press since the scene was once again springing from it's hole with a bunch of new and old bands. All was going great until the shop I was working at went out of business. I lost all access to free copy machines for the first time in 24 years. So these issues with Chris Cah, Goslow, SBGB, The Brainless Wonders, Willie Loco and The Boom Boom Band, The Numbskulls, The Queers, The Belmondos, and The Wailers (!?) were trying to pick up where I left off, but ended up being the last published installments of the Wormtown Press.

Wormtown 20th

No, you did not read that wrong. I recently found some pictures from the 20th Anniversary. It was at Ralph's, (duh), and featured The Commandos, Crybabies, and The Time Beings. That's all I remember. I do remember photos were taken by Scott Wheeler. Looks like it was a blast. Captain PJ had all the puppets there.
