Wormtown Weekend
Chock full of Punk Rock this week, and some non punk.
Friday at Ralph's it's The Numbskulls, Meat Depressed, Musclecah, Slitstitch, and Pity Whores. I've seen 3 out of the 5 more times that I can count, and all are sure to whip up the crowd. Saturday, over at the Greyhound Pub in Kelley Square, it's The Pathetics doing both electric and acoustic sets and White Knuckle Society. It's a great small room with a diverse selection of beers and spirits to imbibe in. Drink responsibly or The Pathetics will take advantage of you.
Finally, over at Gilriens, a reunion of Little Red and The Riders as Ann is back in town to take over the lead vocals of this band currently know as The Red Riders. She is their former lead singer who moved away a couple of years ago and returns once a year for this. They are great jump/swing/blues band who packed the place last year.

Hot Rods, Hot Tunes, Hot Weather
Another show from The Worm Bros on WURN. This time we play songs that are hot!
Cars, Girls,Summah, and Live sets from The Guns Of Navarone, from their show at Ralph's, Pulp 45, and The Preston Wayne Four when they played the Hot Rod show at Ralph's back in May. All that and Jeff's salute to Dr. Albert Hofmann, the man who gave the world LSD. So listen while you're on your "staycation". Who the hell comes up with those words. Is there some think tank full of stupid assholes who make up new words just to annoy the general public. Is that suppose to make you feel good that gas is 4 bucks a gallon and you can't afford to go to the grocery store, never mind the beach? Well, just listen to this and it'll all seem better.

The Best of Worcester !!!!!
Listening to the radio, I keep hearing about the new issue of Worcester Living Magazines' results are out now for their best of Worcester poll. How many fucking best of polls does the city need? Womag's got two, Telegram has one and now so does their sister publication. How many times are people going to vote for the same thing? Do they really get votes in all these things. Or is it just an excuse to get local companies to buy add space because "Everyone reads this issue. Think of your exposure" Yeah, I'm just mad because I never win...............

Wormtown This Weekend
Over at Ralph's on Saturday, 7/12, Guns Of Navarone, Jason James , and In The Face. Last post I talked about Guns. Jason, If you don't know it already, is Wormtowns' own Rockabilly Rebel. A talented young lad who plays and looks like he just stepped out of a Alan Freed rock n roll spectacular. In The Face are from Lowell, and play ska. Never seen them before. Who knew there was Ska in Lowell.
On Sunday , over at Vincents there's a going away party, cookout, hoedown for Dave Ritchie, starting at
1:30 pm. He is moving back to his home state of Texas. He's been on the scene for years as a former DJ at both wicn, and wcuw. While at wicn , he was the last man standing when they canned the rock dept. in the 90's and then hosted a great roots show . He recently moved over to wcuw and will be missed on the airwaves of Worcester. He also pours them at Vincents, so if you've been served by him, come buy him a drink.

Rude Boys (and Girls), Listen UP!
Guns of Navarone, a great Reggae / Ska band from right here in Wormtown have released their debut cd. It's a slick collection of six classic songs performed by this eight piece ensemble that hearkens back to the days of the Two Tone Ska revival of the early 80's and also owes just as much to the roots music that began in the 60's.On stage these guys lay down the beats that get the crowd dancing , and on cd they will get you jumpin around no matter what your mood. Ever since I first heard this style of music back in the 70's I was hooked. Recorded in February at Hillside Sound in Brighton ,MA, this is one recording you should add to your collection immediately. Visit them on the web at myspace.com/navaronereggae
