More Spooky Stuff
Tammany Hall is having an all day and night Blood Drive show. Starting at 1 pm and going to 1 am with some of your favorite Wormtown Punk bands playing early.
You get 5 dollars off if you give blood. I assume you have to do it before you start drinking.
Nicks is also having a Halloween Party called "Nightmare on Millbury St" with prizes and stuff.
And our favorite beer, Narragansett, is offering free stuff if you send them a photo of yourself dressed up and drinking Gansett.
Please remember to wait until you get home and check your candy before eating.

Anarchy in the UK
The Patriots beat the Buccaneers 35 to 7 today in the heart of London at Wembley Stadium.
I like football as a diversion.
A diversion from the normal day to day activity of being unemployed.
Everyone else was prolly at home or in a bar watching the game on their day off.
With me, everyday is a day off.
Now, some of you might say, "You got it made"
I have never been this long without work since I was a teenager.
When they say the recession is over, I cringe.
I know at least 5 other people who are in the same situation as me.
I have no savings or 401k to fall back on, a bad marriage took care of that.
There is no American Dream.
There is only a day to day survival.
But still, you find something.
Rock n roll was always an escape.
Getting involved in the local scene proved essential.
There are friends among you, that you don't even know.
Last week some of them came through and helped me and Jeff Worm keep doing one thing that matters, I guess.
WURN.org will carry on for another year.
With a little help from our friends.
Thanks.

Wormtown Weekend
No punk rock this week.
But, on Friday,The Guns Of Navarone will be providing the ska, rock-steady beat at Beatniks on Park Ave.
This year just happens to be the 30th anniversary of the Ska Revival that began in the UK with all the Two Tone bands, so go out and party like it's 1979.
We are lucky to have a band in Wormtown who have been who want to keep this style alive, so go check them out. You won't be disappointed.
Also Friday, over at Ralph's, The Chicken Slacks are back for there monthly Funky Friday session, so go be part of the scene if you like.
Next week, it's Halloween and it falls on a Saturday so all the clubs are cooking up good times. More on that later.

Sharks Came Cruisin'
What a great show last night in The Hotel Vernon.
Steve Cummings from Bottlefight opened, James Keyes followed him.
It was the first time I saw The Boston and Maine String band, and it won't be the last. Sharks Com Cruisin' from Providence played sailors songs and shanties with punk rock furor, and had The Ship Room rocking like there was a gale blowing.
Next time you get the chance, hop on board with them.
UPDATE:
Do not adjust your set. Just Listen.

Wormtown Weekend
Set sail for the The Hotel Vernon on Friday night, where Sharks Come Cruisin' will be weighing anchor for the night along with James Keyes and The Boston and Maine String Band.
Sharks hail from RI and were in town back in June. I missed them then, and will not pass up this opportunity.
You know James from The Numbskulls, so you know he'll bring it.
Boston and Maine, I have no clue, but I'm sure they'll entertain.
And who can forget those 1 dollar Narragansetts that they serve.
As far as the rest of the weekend, there is metal shit at Ralph's and Hair shit at The Dog. I've heard of hair of the dog, but.....
Looks like fun, but I have other plans that involve getting dressed up in my one and only suit. Maybe I'll post some pics later.
Also, watch wurn.org for what might be the last Worm Bros show. We need cash and may not be back next month. Stay tuned.

In Japanese, it's Ichiban!
On the internet, it's the coolest site ever.
Old monsters, rock n roll , etc.
Throw your radio away.

Non Punk Post
As I mentioned the other day, the wife and I went to see Ian Anderson at Handover last night.
I took some pictures, tried a couple videos.
First one came out blurry, but sound is good.
Second one, I decided to walk up to the stage for better results.
The result was I was told I could not do that.
Who knew?
Sorry if this isn't punk enough for you.
But, before there was punk, there was rock.
Pre-classic style.

Wormtown Weekend
Tonight at London Billiards, Bottlefight come to town to blow the balls off the tables. Athol's greatest will be at The Red Onion in Otter River on Saturday, too.
The rest of the weekend looks like shit as far as punk rock goes.
So I will turn in my badge on Saturday, and do the most un-punk thing imagined.
Over at The Handover Theatre, Ian Anderson, the lead singer and only original member of Jethro Tull is doing a acoustic solo show. Jethro Tull is one of a handful of bands from my youth that I can still listen to, and any time a show comes in or around Wormtown, I'll check it out.

Wormtown Weekend: SBGB
There's only one show you need to be at this weekend.
Yeah, there's other stuff going on, but I'm not mentioning any of it.
Wormtown Punk Rock Legends, SBGB return to the stage for one night only at Ralph's on Saturday.
This was the band you could count on for no holds barred, lighting fast, real rock and roll on the stages of New England from 1995 to 2004.
Consisting of Andy Farrel, on vocals, Jim Hilton and Gerry Cardinal on guitars, Jay Barney on drums, Keith Hast on bass, they built a reputation of draining the crowd with a buzz-saw approach, rarely stopping between songs to catch their breath.
There will also be free SBGB swag available. This is a show you dare not miss.
Also on the bill are The Numbskulls, The Damaged, Slitstich and Chylde, from Buffalo NY.
So as you can see, there will be no show anywhere near here that will give you as much bang for your buck as this one.
Don't even waste you time looking.
And who knows, maybe they will finally reveal what SBGB stands for.
