Wormtown Weekend v2.o
Yeah, so you read The Sentence are not playing.
Instead, why not go see The Blow Up Dads and Blue Collar Union at The Hotel Vernon's Ship Room in Kelley Sq. on Saturday night.
Be part of the Stigma.

Wormtown Weekend
This week begins and ends with The Sentence. First, at a Trickstah Show at Ralph's on Thursday and then at The Red Baron on Friday. I hope that's not a misprint and I hope that's The Red Baron on Main Street in Wormtown across from The Handover Your Money Theatre. I used to go there years ago with Crazy Jack before he was crazy and on my lunch break from Jordan Marsh when you could get drafts for 50 cents. I really can't picture a band playing in there, unless they knocked down a wall or something, because it isn't very big as I remember. But if it is true, that will be something to witness. I don't expect the place will be full of theater patrons.
Then they play The Raven on Pleasant St. on Saturday. So it's a trifecta for fans of The Sentence.
UPDATE:
Mar 26, 2009 3:24 PM
Subject: NO SENTENCE this weekend... BUT!!
Body: The show @Ralph's tonight is still on, so get down there and support the other bands for what oughtta be a sick show nonetheless! We oughtta be back in action within a week or so...
Oh well... Go have a beer at The Red Baron anyway.

Me and Timmy
I found some more pictures from The Wormtown 25th Anniversary in 2003. These were taking in Mayor Tim Murray's office as he read and signed the city proclamation for the 25th. As you all know, Tim is now the Lt. Governor of Massachusetts. He was a big supporter of Wormtown back then, and came to Ralph's to celebrate that evening, he even read the proclamation onstage. Last year I sent an invite to the 30th Anniversary to the current Mayor. I received no reply.

Wormtown Ecocomic Lesson
Here in Wormtown, as well as the whole nation, you are taught to strive for excellence in life and work. Earn as much as you can and live the good life. With all the AIG corporate bonus news lately, it seems like if you earn too much, you are evil. This is nothing new. Rich and powerful men have been hated throughout history. Look, I'll show you....
Mr Slate. As owner of The Slate Rock and Gravel Company, he worked poor Fred Flintsone in the hot sun of the quarry while he sat in his office overlooking it all. One will never forget the joy Fred felt everyday at quitting time as he slid down that dinosaurs tail to freedom.
Mr. Drysdale. As owner of The Commerce Bank of Beverly Hills, he guarded over Jed Clampett's millions as if they were his own. Professing love of money as his most important quality, he'd pretend to be concerned for the welfare of the Clampett's if they yearned to leave and return to the hills of Bugtussle, but in reality was only afraid of losing their deposits.
Mr Spacely. Owner of Spacely Space Sprockets, forced George Jetson to feverishly push button after button while screaming at him over that funny picture screen device, and temp him with promises of Vice Presidency that never came to fruition.
Mr Burns. Owner of Spingfield Nuclear Power, endangers the life of Homer Simpson, as well his co workers Lenny and Carl by ignoring Federal Guidelines set by the NRC for safe operation and storage of waste, all the while sitting in his plush office having his every whim catered to by his assistant Smithers.
So, it's okay to hate the Fat Cats who made it big and have all the money while you suffer, in fact it's The American Way.

Wormtown Weekend
OK a little late here, but better late then....
Tonight at The Lucky Dog, it's the Wormtown debut of Sasquatch and the Holy Hellraisers. Yes the wild man returns with a new direction down a Metal road to hell.
I've heard the pre-release of the new stuff, and so did you if you listened to the latest Worm Bros show, and it will blow your soul away.
Also on Friday, DMZ return to the scene of the crime at Church for an encore performance of last years show. If that's not enough to get you to drive out to Boston, Unnatural Axe and Vagiant, who no doubt rocked Ralph's last week, are on the bill.
Saturday, take you pick.
The Raven on Pleasant St hosts THE punk show of the week with Slitstich, The Pity Whores, now an honorary Wormtown Band , proclaimed by Jeff Worm, Hoodrat, The Sentence, and Nix Bitches. I have not yet made it to The Raven, formally known as The Cardinal Club, but have heard they did many renovations and improvements to the place and now is a great room to rock out in.
Over at The Lucky Dog there is a benefit for MASS CANN with Guns of Navarone and Singuya along with two more bands. Herb and Ska, what a concept.
This is the first weekend of Spring, so get out and grow some fun.

Another Xit
A couple of more things I found to post. First is the ad from Womag with thier opening line up of of shows. The next is the club listing with a picture of Flipper, just look at the competition from other clubs. And if you read the article from last weeks post, they were not the ones who ruined the equipment that night. I think it was The Freeze, if I remember correctly.

Wormtown Weekend
Starting early again this week, Thursday at Ralph's for an all out punk rock assault with Sadplant, The Pathetics, The Pity Whores, who should just move to Wormtown from Foxboro to save on gas, and For What It's Worth.
Friday, at the Lucky Dog, Hated open for Sinister Urge, a Rob/White Zombie cover band. My cousin, Russ Wyman, plays in Hated, so I give him a plug. They play Metal and are pretty good.
Down the street, Chanticlear make their way back to the scene at The Hotel Vernon, with The Vicious Bastards, The Allston Pants, Slitstich and The Pity Whores, who I hope to hell didn't go home on Thursday.
Saturday, back over to The Diner for Vagiant, Razors in the Night, Kill Conrad & American Motherfuckers, a band from Wormtown I have yet to see, but hear are mind blowing. Try the Burgers.
Out in Boston, John Felice has put together another version of The Real Kids, legendary band from the 70's, and will be playing at The Cantab on Mass Ave.
That's a weekend chock full of rock if ever there was one.
Play safe.
UPDATE: Bottlefight is playing at The Red Onion on Main St. in Otter River, MA on Saturday the 14th. Just go up rte. 68 past Gahdnah. Bring bail money.

Wormtown History: Xit
It was 27 years ago today Wormtown's only punk rock nightclub opened on Millbury Street. It lasted about three or four years and had many owner/management changes and was eventually forced out of business by the powers that be, doing their best to rid Worcester of this dangerous type of music.
I did some scans of the Telegram's take on the club after the grand opening, and the cards they use to produce to keep people informed of what was upcoming in that den of iniquity.

Divertion: Doctor Who
This post has nothing to do with Wormtown or Rock n Roll.
I've been a Doctor Who geek since the 80's when they use to show it on Channel 2.
It's the longest running sci fi show in the world, starting in 1963.
I was browsing the BBC site and came upon this picture. They are now filming the latest installment in Dubai, and apparently it's some crew members job to SWEEP THE DESERT!

Muck and the Mires
From last Friday at Vincents.
As I mentioned the other day, they're off to SXSW and the UK in two weeks.
We got to see them up close and personal in Wormtown.
Here's some videos.
More here at RF Generator
And hear the whole show at wurn.org

Wormtown Weekend
March into the first weekend of the month. Get an early start tonight at The Lucky Dog where The Pathetics help kick off the clubs 10th Anniversary Weekend. It's been that long already? Time flys....
Friday, Muck and the Mires warm up for their SXSW gig, where they will be opening for the New York Dolls, at Vincents. They are minutes away from releasing their new LP "Hypnotic" and are traveling to London for the release party.
Also on Friday, there is a punk show at The Gym on Main St, downtown with The Pity Whores, The Sentence, Hoodrat, and Silent Mind. I've never been to The Gym. I may have been there when it was something else. See flier for dress code, but not date of show.
Saturday, The Greyhound Pub tries something new. Two shows, one at 7:30 and one at 9:30 with The Swaggerin' Growlers and The Guns of Navarone. 1st one is all ages, so all the old folks (like me) can get out and rock before 10 pm, right?
Or, run across Kelly Square to The Hotel Vernon for Can't Kill Katie,The Black Noise Scam, BEERDOZER and The Jonee Earthquake Band. Watch the traffic.
That's a boatload of Rock n Roll this weekend, and due to my own economic down turn, I'll only be at one of them. Which one?
Tune in next week. Same Worm time, same Worm channel.
